Helen Utsal is an award winning contemporary landscape painter living and working on Vancouver Island.

Spending time in Nature is a critical aspect of her inspiration and practice; a space for meditation, imagination, creation and renewal.

Helen paints in the studio and also outdoors, capturing the feeling of those moments of awe in Nature.

She is proud to be an elected member and board member of the Society of Canadian Artists and  a member of the Artists for Conservation

"...the light in the forest captivates me. The diversity of life, mood and energy found there is exciting. Expressing my sense of peace, wonder and joy of Nature through painting and drawing  has entwined my time spent in Nature and and in the studio. I love creating colourful, energetic and light saturated landscapes that leave a little room for the imagination. "     Helen Utsal

Testimonials

"We have never commissioned art before, but asked Helen to make a painting for our home. She provided us lots of choice and space to make a decision. We had a hard time deciding which painting to choose! We get so many compliments on our beautiful painting!"    Steve and Rosie, 2021

"I received my painting and its gorgeous in person... I find myself getting lost in it. Thank you for making such a beautiful piece."    Danielle G commissioned a painting from Ottawa, 2020

"We commissioned Helen to do a large painting in the Fall. She was great to work with throughout the process. Helen listened to our vision, colour preferences and the mood that we wanted to evoke and painted 2 paintings for us to choose from. She was very accommodating and delivered the pieces so we could try them in our home before we made the decision. The painting we chose has wonderful mossy trees in a forest setting. We enjoy looking at her beautiful work in our main living area every day."    Krista.R, 2020
